The difficulty in just proiducing two mixes is an indication of just how prolific SOLAR was with good charts and wonderful artists. I will be putting more of my thoughts of these artists and these tracks as time goes on, but for no, just enjoy the vibe. Big ups to Theresa, Garfield, and Tracy. Got requests? This is pure dope! The SOLAR machine, to me, is a record label that put out the most memorable R&B dance tunes ever. THAT (THIS) is real dance music. Thank u for these OSWs!

    1. EJ says:

I totally agree. It was hard to decide what would go into just two volumes. Also, tracking down tracks from Collage and Cat Miller were a challenge.

  2. Gdvictorianne says:

The sound of Los Angeles with their office on No. Cahuenga Blvd in Hollywood. Solar delivered songs that made ya feel good. Wonderful musical arrangments, harmonies and talent that wolld rival other soul labels – Philadelphia Int’l, Stax, Motown & Malaco. Bravo on the collection…

Late to this post, but couldn’t agree more with everyone’s sentiments. SOLAR has built a wonderful musical legacy and EJ, 2 ur point, one that would take up more that two playlists. RIP Mr. Griffey, an exemplary Record Label Exec., who built careers, not just a catalog.
