14 – D Train – Shadow of Another Love

I’m sure that most people are familiar with the Patrice Rushen, Shalamar, and Chaka tracks. but may not have had much exposure to Jaki Graham, previously a vocalist for Kiss The Sky, and her track Round and Around. Slave’s Dreamin’ is a great track from Stone Jam that was never released as a single, followed up by a duet from Madonna called Love Song. SOS Band and Leon Sylvers III pave the way for Star Steppin’, a classic steppers tine. DeBarge is followed up with a track I had never heard before, Something New. The tracks from The Doobie Brothers, Raydio, and D-Train round out the set nicely.

Much props to Xquizzyt1 for the last mix, Yvonne for helping me track down the Keni Burke track, Pil Hil for helping me out with the intro track, and Macedonia for providing the impetus of unearthing this duet between Madonna and a well known (some would say iconic) artist, Love Song. Great stuff –
Feeling Patrice,SOS, Chaka (haven’t heard this one in a bit), Leon S,
    Jaki, Doobies and Raydio.
Never heard the Madonna before. Cool I need to reach out past the Jellybean and Nile Rodgers produced material. LOL!
    Thanks, E.

EJ: been awhile since I left a comment on an OSW, but you do know that I’m here every Wednesday morning to check out and DL the mix, right? {smile} Good stuff on this one. Like the Patrice cut to start things off and haven’t heard Ray Parker, Jr. or D-Train in a long time. The Keni Burke cut is new to me also. Will be enjoying this one all day!

I figure I’d stop lurking for once and comment. 🙂
Hadn’t listened to SOS in a minute and the DB’s song is one of my faves. Thumbs up!

Hi, EJ. Glad someone finally let us hear part of the collabo b/w the ‘Icon’ and Madonna… Great track; only wish we could have a full project from these two.
Hey, how about an OSW tribute to Angela Winbush? either solo stuff or outside production material or both. I was thinking about this “…while driving here from Cleveland…” as Arsenio Hall would say (haha).
