Crashing and Burning (OE) / Rotatin’, Volume 4

ManNMotion is the supplier. I’m the provider.

I’m still doing it, and I’ve been trying to balance it and life in general. Life is back on track, and now go back to travelling, but something had to give, right?

Other Folk’s Blogs

Man, I haven’t read blogs in about a 8 days, literally. I probably missed out on something, because there’s always something going on. I’m walking through Bloglines now being tasked to read 2000+ entries. It’s like trying to read a novel in 7 hours. So hey, if you think I missed something, it’s not ’cause I don’t love you, it’s because I’ve been going through a helluva time at work. Pure madness.

This Blog .
This blog turned 4 years old a couple of weeks ago. Four years of existence, 86 OSWs, and 54 rotations. Man, that’s a lotta work. Where’s the birthday cake?

While I was in The Work Inferno, KB took control of the OSWs and Todd had a birthday which I almost missed. On top of all that, Todd and Lynne did some serious change-ups. While I was laying in the cut trying to keep my head above water, Billy Preston died. Dag. Oh yeah, and then….

The Crash of Iapetus
On Wednesday, I started listening to some music at work, and then all of a sudden, my portable disk gave me an error message: The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable, which basically means: your 40GB of music is gone, and you, my friend, are royally screwed. I’ll have to re-rip disks (40+), and as for music I used to have but can’t find now? Well, I’ve either lost that music completely or call in favors to get the tracks back. I don’t quite know what I’m going to do about the old-school Wednesday at this point. This week will hereby be called The Week Of Reconstruction. Damnit.

The Good Stuff.

There was some great stuff that came out last weekend, however. If you haven’t checked out Flowink, specifically Music Lounge 06.05.06, don’t worry, I have it here for you. Here’s how the flow goes down.

Everything The Revelation is Now Televised Bah Samba 4 Sing If You Want It
The Way Journey into Day Seasons of Life Corinne Bailey Rae
Joi - Tennessee Slim Is The Bomb (Pookie) Sapphire SOULidified Where Life Begins
Soul Heaven Presents Masters at Work

01 – Stephanie Cooke – If I Have To Change (DJ Spinna Remix) Stephanie Cooke and DJ Spinna create a 9 minute head nodder, complete with synth solos. Excellent. From Everything.
02 – V – Anotha Phase. Philly singer on the BBE label whose album includes the likes of Jill Scott, James Poyser, Christopher Williams, and others.
03 – Bah Samba – Let the Drums Speak. The Fatback Band’s Bill Curtis and Johnny Flippen step up this track on Bah Samba 4, which I’m anxiously waiting for. If this cut is any indication of the rest of the album, this album is going to be one of the eargasms of the year. As Bill and Jonny say, ‘Happy hands, happy feet…’
04 – Sleepy Brown – Margarita feat. Big Boi. Anxiously awaiting Mr. Brown, but Couch Sessions dropped this teaser to us. With The Neptunes at the helm, it’s good stuff.
05 – Omar – Gimme Sum (Vocal Version) [Feat. Common, Rodney P, Cantibe & Ashman]. With Common on tap and Omar on vocals, hell yeah, this is good stuff. Arguably Omar’s finest album also.
06 – Ian Martin – Movin’ On (Featuring Robin McKelle). I love Robin’s voice on this one. From The Way.
07 – Seek – DJ’s Make The Music Go Round. From their third album, Journey Into Day. I’ve always been en
08 – Janita – No Words. Janita’s Seasons of Life is my chill CD.
09 – Corinne Bailey Rae – Trouble Sleeping. I saw the video for Put Your Records On and I had gotten some positive feedback regarding her CD so I purchased it. I’m feeling it, particularly this cut, which is her current release.
10 – Joi – I’m So Famous, more famous than sex or drugs and rock n’ roll…. a head nodder at the outset, but when you start listening to the lyrics, it becomes one of those tracks that burn in your head and won’t let go. Can’t wait for the video….
11 – Carol Riddick – I Like The Way It Feels. This is the track that everyone has listened to that is considered the absolute, absolute bomb. Shoutouts to Mr. Myke for dropping me the cut. C’mon Carol, drop us the CD, please.
12 – Teena Marie – The Way You Love Me
, from Sapphire. Rocka did a nice little interview with her too.
13 – Hil St. Soul – Baby Come Over (Featuring Dwele). From Soulidified.
14 – Larry Heard – Let Me In. From Where Life Begins.
15 – Manzel – Midnight Theme (Doperbrother Remix), from Soul Heaven.
