When I learned about MJs death, I received a couple of podcast requests. After seeing so many reflections of Michael and his performances through the late 70s through this decade, I felt that some of his early career hadn’t been considered. This is when I called on Todd Kelley’s knowledge to be able to touch on some of the early work by The Jacksons and Michael, as well as tracks from the 80s which weren’t necessarily the most popular, but definitely memorable. This, course, is like grabbing only a few dollars out of a big moneybag. Trying to fit them all on one CD is not easy- there is so much we weren’t able to touch on- but I hope you find this sampling of Mike’s spirit and talent them all on one CD touches you in some way. Shutouts go to KB and Fave as well or their touches on this ‘cast. Got requests? Send an email to ejflavors at gmail dot com. I had an absolute blast in Austin, TX at SXSW and it gets better every year., believe me. It gave me a running start on this rotation. The grooves here are plentiful. Platinum Pied Pipers blows the lid off the bo with On A Cloud, instant classic in my mind. This coes from the new CD Endurnce. This is followed up by Ashey Thomas – who, in my mind, has one of the best CDs so far this yar, A Tale Of Two Cities. I wanted to include two tracks on this rotation, but I’m going to keep adhering to the rules here…just be sure you’ll hear more of him this year. The same can be said of Lisa Shaw’s new CD, Free- a solid followup to Cherry. To keep the keep the vibe going, I had to coninue with soid trancks from Tortured Soul’s new CD Did You Miss Me? and Jody’s Candlelight.

Liquid Spirit follows up with Could It Be You?, from one of my favorite albums from last year, Music, while Sunlightsquare keeps it moving with Never Felt So Good. Erik Rico keeps the flow into Slakah The Beatchild’s Emjoy Yourself (which by the way is also included in Nikki’s Soulrific Episode #45. Zo! teams up with Asylum 7 with Overdue Process, from the album of the same name. I then mellow it out to a close with Mabanua’s Deam About You, Lasonya Gunter’s Sittin’ Here, and my man Randevyn’s This Morning.

I’m definitely going to be at SXSW next year, believe that. There are way too many people to give thant’s to this go-round, just know that I’m definitely planning on making it next year, and makig sure I stay a little bit longer.

As usual, take a listen to the podcast for more info. Special thanks to Foundation Media, Ariel Publicity, Soulbounce, and Macedonia. Take it light.

01 – D-Nell – This Thing
02 – Q-Burns Abstract Message – This Time (featuring Lisa Shaw)
03 – Don Blackman – Holding You, Loving You
04 – Amerie – Why Dont We Fall In Love
05 – Carl Thomas – My Valentine
06 – Giovanca – Pure Bliss
07 – Incognito – I Love What You Do For Me
08 – Ephraim Lewis – Drowning in Your Eyes
09 – Blaze – All That I Should Know
10 – Gaelle – Repetition
11 – D’Sound – Tattooed On My Mind
12 – Adriana Evans – Looking For Your Love
13 – Beanfield with Ernesto – Close to You
14 – Ivana Santilli – You’re So You
15 – Alexander O’Neal – The Morning After
16 – Amp Fiddler – Unconditional Eyes
17 – D Infuence – Falling

I decided to not try to focus on any particular genre, but tracks that made me feel great when I first heard them- and each time I listen to them. I started out with This Thing from D’Nell because the track was my favorite track of 2004 and upon hearing this track, I was hell bent on absorbing all that is D’Nell. I haven’t looked back since. The same thing can also be said about This Time when I was trying to discover all that is Lisa Shaw. Don Blackman’s old school track (that I actually heard off a new-school CD) brings us to throwbacks from Amerie (only 2 minutes, 49 seconds long), and Carl Thomas (scratching blended in with a wonderful string section hook).

Giovanca, Incognito (with Maysa on lead), and Eprhaim Lewis (RIP) with their Amsterdam and UK tracks are followed by New Jersey’s Blaze and one of my favorite tracks from this house group, All That I Should Know. This is followed by Gaelle’s Repetition (which is one of the simplest, yet most-layered tracks that simply say "I love you."). Oslo’s D’Sound has a track entitled Tattooed On My Mind that is followed by arguably my favorite Adriana Evans track from her first LP, Looking For Your Love, with it’s luxurious arrangement of horns strings, and xylophones accentuated by her vocals. Timeless.

Beanfield’s Close To You from the album Seek introduced me to Ernesto. I followed this up with Ivana Santilli’s You’re So You which came out the year before the background vocalist’s first album was released. (I believe you know him as a guy named Dwele). I kept it going with Alex’s The Morning After, Amp Fiddler’s Unconditional Eyes with vocals by Stephanie McKay, and capped it with the last track off of D-Influence’s London CD, Falling. Sarah Anne Webb’s vocals in the final 60 seconds gets me every time.

15 – Liquid Spirits – Music [site] - Artist from the Netherlands who surprised me with their title track. This track had me when it first played. Love the chorus.
14 – Erik Rico – Making Love [myspace]
- Erik is an independant artist. I really enjoyed his album this year. Surprising in it’s simplicity, but very enjoyable.
13 – Peter Hadar – Laugh Together [myspace]
- My favorite cut off of Well Dressed for the Art Show. When he sings "we say we look good together / but can we be goofy wherever" – I swear it’s like he knew me. Love that line.
12 – Q-Tip – Believe (feat. D’Angelo) [myspace | purchase]
- From Renaissance. It’s so good, I use it as my ringtone for my G1. This also just accelerates the need for D’Angelo to drop something this year.
11 – Lalah Hathaway – 1 Mile [site | purchase]
my favorite track from Self Portrait. Solid album from her- one of the most underappreciatd artists in my opinion.
10 – Luisito Quintero – Love Remains The Same (feat. Blaze) [purchase]
- I admit that I’m a house fan, and defintiely a fan of Blaze. This track is my one of my many, many head nodders featuring them. Luisito Quintero’s Summer Madness is solid in and of itself, this is icing on the cake.
09 – Giovanca – Free [myspace | purchase]
– I’m a fan of Benny Sings and also Wouter Hamel. Giovanca, also from Dox Recrods has a very good album with Subway Silence. The album itself is great, but this track, with a serious break in the middle filled with horns and percussion, is just golden.
08 – Coultrain – Green [myspace]
Jealousy neve sounded so good. Love the southern touch and the violins. He’s also doing some work with Platinum Pied Pipers this year. Gotta be great.
07 – Jimmy Abney – Hello [myspace | purchase]
Such an understated love track that gets me every time I hear it. I played it countless times, along with the album Return to Forever. Osunlade did a great job.
06 – Foreign Exchange – If She Breaks Your Heart
– And now I can say this- Foreign Exchange’s Leave It All Behind is absolutely one of my top albums of the year. Picking a song out there is difficult at best, but Yazarah’s redux of Stevie Wonder’s If She Breaks Your Heart from Jungle Fever is absolutely incredible.
05 – Beady Belle – Tranquil Flight [site | purchase]
- "rock me till I’m leavin’ reality behind." Beady Belle with the always killer bassline, took lyrics, seriosly infectious choruses, and soulful vocal accentuations that make me shake my head every time I hear this track.
04 – Incognito – I’ve Been Waiting [purchase]
– Always a big fan of Incognito, believe that. Classic, classic stuff from them. Maysa’s vocals, horns and bassline. Did I mention Maysa? Yeah.
03 – Reel People – Perfect Sky featuring Joy Rose [purchase]
– Reel People’s 7 Ways To Wonder is also one of my top albums of 2008. This track stands out with it’s layering of keyboards and was my wakeup song for the spring and summer of 2008. Bliss in stereo. Everytime I hear it, I smile.
02 – Swing Out Sister – My State Of Mind [site]
- You might call me quirky, but hear me out. SOS always had my attention, and this track just made it sweeter. Taking old school with real instruments, add handclaps and background chatter. Then add sampling into the mix. Impeccable stuff.
01 – Jazzanova – Look What You’re Doin’ To Me Featuring Phonte [purchase]
- Arresting, arresting track, pulls me to the end and absolutely leaves me hanging. Every.single.time. Phonte and Jazzanova killed it in 2008, believe that.

I could type this all night talking about these tracks, which I had to compile from about 50 tracks based on number of plays and my in-rotation podcasts of the year. I also restricted myself from just one track per artist. Jazzanova and Reel People would have easily had two tracks on this list- no question. From my assessment, this was more on the mid-tempo side this year, but that’s okay, because I’m a mellow kinda guy. I’ll be updating this list with my honorable mentions and also listing my top 8 albums of 2008, so stay tuned. As usual, take a listen to the podcast for more info. Special thanks to Foundation Media, Ariel Publicity, Soulbounce, and Macedonia. Take it light.

06 – Liquid Spirits – If You Don’t Love Me Ft Phonte [site]

09 – Flowriders – Matter [site]
10 – The Rurals – Brand New Day [site]
11 – Foreign Exchange – Valediction [site]
12 – Jean Baylor – Made To Love You [site]

Mellow house by Yogi featuring Brihonny Thomas and The Sunburst Band starts this whole thing off nicely. I absolutely love those two tracks. It also stands to reason that Jazzanova’s Of All The Things is one of my favorite albums of the year, which is why Let Me Show You follows up so nicely. Thanks to Jazzanova, I was also introduced to Paul Westbeech which is why I had to pick up Welcome to the Best Years of Your Life. Get Silly is a great track that sets it off nicely – and I’m still marinating on the album.

Thanks to the greatness of Twitter (check here if you want to find out what I do everyday), I was introduced to Eric Campbell and was greatful to receive his blesssing for Fall In An Out Of Love, an outstanding track with vocals by K. Alyn.
Look forward to hearing more from him in 2009, and getting to know the guy better. Liquid Spirits’ new CD Music features tracks with Leon Ware and Phonte, and puts me in the mindset of Quintessence which is why I like the track, If You Don’t Love Me.

K-SON’s That’s Music is a solid track that prompted me to go to CD Baby and pick up his CD. It stands to reason that I also appreciate Jazzanova’s Lucky Girl which is an absolutely jazzy solid track. The Flowriders’ Matter is a nice neo-soul track which prompted me to get both their CDs, so check them out. I then end the goodness with The Rural’s Brand New Day, Foreign Exchange’s Valedictorian, and a track from Jean Baylor (formerly of Zhane), Made To Love You.

In Rotation, Volume 18 – August, 2008

As you know, Mr. Fresh has been dropping Sunday Soundtracks for some time now which has been a solid mainstay for every Sunday for me as well as many other fans. Since I’ve been busy with Old School Wednesdays it’s not easy to find time to drop my In Rotations. When I was finally able to find the time, it became more challenging to try to find a slot to be able to provide the podcast as there are so many great ones being dropped on the regular. In fact, I believe at last count I listen to about 10 every week. Mr. Fresh has changed his schedule for his Sunday Soundtracks to every two weeks, which enables me (with his blessing, of course) to be able to drop my In Rotations once every two weeks Sundays. Without further ado….

01 – Ivana Santilli – Hollywood (Nothing Over U) [info]
02 – Reel People – Upside featuring Darien [purchase]
03 – Maya Azucena – This Time [site | hi-perspective | purchase]
04 – Incognito – Happy People [purchase]
05 – Robin Thicke – Magic [video | purchase]

12 – Coultrain – Green [myspace]
13 – Plantlife – Got 2 Find A Better Way [myspace]
14 – Solar Kollektiv Orchestra – Atlantic Radio [purchase]
15 – Argentina – Stolen Identity [myspace | purchase]

Ivana’s Hollywood is one of the tracks from the anticipated LP TO.NY. As I’ve mentioned before, Reel People’s Seven Ways to Wonder is one of my favorite albums so far this year, and Upside is one of the great summer songs that’s been rotating lately. The same can also be said by This Time, a track from Hi-Perpective’s Expansions LP with vocals by Maya Azucena. Incognito’s Happy People with vocals by Tony Momrelle is followed by Robin Thicke’s Magic, from his upcoming LP Something Else.

I’m a fan of Dionne Farris and had to wait for a long time for a successor to the album Wild Seed, Wild Flower. The album Signs of Life is a nice edition to my catalog. I’m hoping to see her this year. If it’s any indication by the track Soul Banger, Jah-C will be one to watch this year. I’ll be on the lookout of more from him.

The tracks Slooow by J*Davey, Sticky Situaton by Naked Music, and Laugh Together by Peter Hadar give me more of the mellow
groove that is definitely my weakness, as you can see. This is followed by Keelay and Zaire’s track Alright With Me with rhymology by D Minor and Phonte, an absolutely solid track. I don’t think I can say enough about Coultrain’s track Green, from his LP The Adventures of Seymour Liberty which is in heavy rotation and is in the running for one of my favorite albums of the year. I’m still rockin’ Plantlife’s Time Traveller of course, and I’m antipating more from Solar Kollektiv Orchestra, which will be a nice surprise if Atlantic Radio is any indication. I then end this with of my favorite instrumentals of this year, Stolen Identity’s Argentina.

As usual, take a listen to the podcast for more info. Special thanks to Foundation Media, Ariel Publicity, Mr. Fresh, and Macedonia. Take it light.

11 – Peter Hadar – Painted [myspace | soulbounce]
12 – Algebra – No Idea [myspace]
13 – Lalah Hathaway – Breathe [site | purchase]
14 – Jennie Laws – Heavenly [site and podcast | download]

The first track, Survivin’, is from Joey Negro’s Sunburst Band’s new LP Movers and The Shakers. As I mentioned to a friend of mine, this may very well be a summer anthem of mine. As I am a longtime fan of Maysa and Incognito, this track is a much-anticipated release, and the video only underscores my love for this track.

Plantlife’s Sumthin’ About Her is one of the tracks from their second album, Time Traveller. As Voxefx stated, “Jamiroquai + Outkast + Jamie Lidell + Deelite sprinkled with Prince, Bootsy Collins, George Clinton and Rick James.” Estelle’s duet with Cee-Lo, Pretty Please (Love Me) is from her new LP, Shine, followed by one of my personal favorites so far this year, Perfect Sky by Reel People, with vocals by Joy Rose. Jimmy Abney’s Hello is from his new CD Return to Forever, released off of Osunlade’s Yoruba Records.

Lina’s Feel The Love is another great track from her third album Morning Star, followed by trumpeter/DJ/vocalist Miles Bonny’s Closer Love off of the EP of the same name. Duo Live’s track, Summer Stacks features vocals by Angie Stone. Peter Hadar’s Painted is the first single off of the upcoming album, Well Dressed for the Art Show which is available next month. Algebra’s No Idea, is a single off of her current album Purpose. Lalah Hathaway’s Breathe off her new LP, Self Portait, is followed by a solid track from a new artist from Toronto you should be on the lookout for, Jennie Laws. Her new EP is available now – check on her webiste link above for more info.

12 – Reel People – It Will Be featuring Tony Momrelle [purchase]
13 – Lina – Everyday [myspace | purchase]
14 – Beady Belle – Tranquil Flight [site | purchase]

The blend is kicked off with tracks from the new CDs from Incognito (Step Aside) , Reel People (Anything You Wantwith vocals by Tasita D’mour), and Domu Presents Pete Simpson (Ain’t No Fool). The next two tracks are from two people I’ve had the pleasure in meeting, Sy Smith and Lizz Fields, with tracks from their new CDs Conflict and Pleasureville respectivelly.

Poetiquette’s Not Complaining is followed by Nicolay and Kay’s Through The Wind. This brings us to NYC’s hip hop trio Dream/Clone with Get Amped, a nice energetic track. The energy from Dream/Clone blends right into Late Night Mission, where Aaron Jerome and Yungun tell the story of a topsy turvy late night. The next two tracks put an electro spin on both hip hop and funk – Nathan Haines’ Springtime Rain (accentuated with the flow of no other than Rich Medina) and Kissey Asplund’s 6AM.

Kissey is followed up with another track from Reel People, featuring vocals from Tony Momrelle with It Will Be, and a track from Lina’s new CD Morning Star, Everyday. The blend is then capped off wih Beady Belle’s heartwarming track, Tranquil Flight.

I have got to say that I’ve been graced with more house music…more GOOD house music….than I have for a while. Chris Ballin- whose voice should sound familiar to you (Beneath The Surface should ring a bell)- comes forward with a track from Do It Right called Full Time Lover. Reel People march right out of the gate with a tune from their just-released Seven Ways To Wonder CD entitled Amazing.

Simbad then comes forward with Rob Li with Here We Stand, which brings us to a nice hip-hop track from the 410 Pharoahs entitled Real Fresh which I’m definitely feeling. This is followed by a track from DJ Junior’s Excursions CD, entitled All The Beauty by Donn. Samantha James keeps it flowing with another track from Rise entitled Right Now, bringing us to Stacy Epps (Madvillain anyone?) with Floatin’.

I don’t think I can say enough about Beady Belle. Her Belvedere CD is not to be missed. India.Arie is graced on the upifiting track Self-Fulfilling. Rainbow Soul keeps it flowing with Vaceo’s Room For All, flowing right into Albright’s great reworking of a track we remember from back in the day, Tainted (Love).

Former D-Influence members Kwame Kwaten and Steve Marten
deliver the goods with the D’Vas After Hours CD, which has a stellar track with lead vocals from no other than Caron Wheeler called Still Running. Finishing up the podcast on a great note is Jean Graw & 9th Wonder with Love Thirst and Kia El Amin’s track Creative from DC Soul In The Cut’s album Share A Moment of Love.

As usual, take a listen to the podcast for more info. Special thanks to Foundation Media for keepin’ me aware of good music, particularly the 410 Pharoahs and Jean Grae. Take it light.

12 – Anthony Hamilton – Magnolia’s Room
13 – Eric Roberson – Pretty Girl
14 – Mica Paris – Sixth Street

The Markus Enochson track with James Ingram entitled Day And Night from the CD Night Games is a nice surprise that I never expected. Adriana’s Hey Now is
one of the tracks of the awesome El Camino release which I consider one wonderful CD, definitely on par with her other two releases. Blue Six’s cut from Aquarian Angel, You Just Can’t Stop with Lisa Shaw’s vocals, is heavenly, leading into Sa-Ra Creative Partner’s So Special, lit up by Rozzi Daime, from their release The Hollywood Recordings.

Donald McCollum’s track No Matter What I’ll Do is excellent, as is Nate James’ Funkdefining from Kingdom Falls. Much to my delight, DJ Jazzy Jeff teams up with Raheem Devaughn for My Soul Ain’t For Sale which is excellent. On top of that Joe teams up Fabolous on his CD Ain’t Nothin’ Like Me to serve up Let’s Just Do It. I’ve gotta admit that the track is definitely a head-nodder for me that I did not expect.

Lathun’s cut with India.Arie entitled When Love Came In is a solid track, which leads up to Macy Gray’s What I Gotta Do from her release Big. Lily Allen’s Alright, Still serves up Friend Of Mine, leading into Anthony Hamilton’s Magnolia’s Room from his great CD Southern Comfort. Eric Roberson’s Pretty Girl from …Left leads us into Mica Paris’ Sixth Street, a cut located on both her Black Angel CD as well as Soul Desirables.

Take it light.

02 – Miguel Migs – Side To Side
03 – Lanu – Mother Earth
04 – Strange Fruit Project featuring Thesis – Parachutes
05 – Blue Six – Fast Free Delivery

10 – Musiq Soulchild – Ridiculous
11 – Gimenez-E – that day
12 – John Mayer – Vultures
13 – Jhelisa – Love Is A State Of Mind
14 – Tracey Thorn – Easy

The first track from Ralf GUM has vocals by Beate S. Lech, the one and only female member of Beady Belle giving you a nice downtempo house track. Miguel Migs’ track from the CD Those Things has vocals from Lisa Shaw. Lanu’s Mother Earth is a very nice track from the CD This Is My Home.

Strange Fruit Project’s Parachutes is one of my favorite tracks from their CD, as is Blue Six’s Fast Free Delivery from Aquarian Angel. Deyampart and Samantha Jones lead the way to Vikter Duplaix’s cut from Bold and Beautiful and Erro’s track from …Left. Musiq’s Ridiculous brings us to Gimenez-E’s track that day. His site is here.

To end the rotation, I’ve got some John Mayer from Continuum, Jhelisa from A Primitive Guide To Being There, and Tracy Thorn of Everything But The Girl from Out Of The Woods.

Special thanks to The Mighty Mons Def for hooking me up with Gimenez (he’s got the entire album here on his site also) and Mr. Madison for alerting me to the website Save Net Radio, which is helping to lead the fight of helping internet radio avoid extinction. Check it out.

Rotatin’, Volume 8

I was able to attend a wonderfully awesome podcast seminar this past weekend. Let me tell you that I’m excited now because it now pushes me forward to make some changes this year. There were great seminars, and I met some very, very knowledgeable and exciting people. Through their wisdom and teachings I managed to obtain some really good audio equipment.

Because of this (and all the good music out there these days), rotations will now be every 2 weeks now and podcasts will now contain my voice. Trust me, I will probably sound like Alvin (just call me MC Chipmunk), but should make it more personable instead of just melodies. This is the first of the set that I did last week without the equipment, which is also available over at Flowink, along with Sincere’s.

01 – Blaze – Found Love (Shrine DJ Vocal Mix)
02 – Robbscott – Revolution
03 – Elmore Judd Feat Fae Simon – Your Eyes
04 – Roy Ayers – Funk In The Hole (Platinum Pied Pipers Remix)
05 – Natalie Williams – You Don’t Know
06 – Koop – I See A Different You
07 – 4hero feat. Carina Andersson – Morning Child
08 – Nicole Willis – All the Time
09 – Iman – Who Was I Trying To Fool
10 – Sy Smith – Bad On You
11 – Anthony David – Stop Playin’
12 – Eric Roberson – If I Had A Chance
13 – Emmanuel – Right Here
14 – 4hero feat. Jack Davey – Take My Time
15 – Conya Doss – The One
16 – Darien Brockington – Come On Over

I’m here to tell you that I’m a huge fan of Blaze’s ability to mix tracks, as you will see on Found Love, which is a perfect segue into Robbscott’s Revolution. The song that I keep playing like it’s going out of style is Elmore Judd’s Your Eyes, with the vocals of Fae Simon gracing the track and Yam Who? putting their own spin into it. Funk In The Hole is nicely mixed by Platinum Pied Pipers, which enables the track to transcend jazz, hip hop, and soul. It’s all about Natalie Williams’ vocal stylings and the terrific flute on You Don’t Know which is absolutely fantastic.

Koop’s I See A Different You and 4Hero’s Morning Child have fantastic instrumentation, as does Nicole Willis’ All The Time. Iman’s Who Was I Trying to Fool (from Brownswood Bubblers) is followed by tracks by Sy Smith, Anthony David, and Eric Roberson. Mellowing us out is a cut from 4Hero’s Take My Time, sung by Jack Davey, Conya Doss’ The One, and Darien Brockington’s Come On Over finishing out the sex.

Hope you enjoy, and stay tuned for more rotations.

01 – Aquanote – Nowhere
02 – The Sunburst Band – Far Beyond
03 – Osunlade f/ Marie St. James – The Closer I Get
04 – Blue Six – Pure
05 – D’Influence f/ Shola Ama- This I Promise You
06 – Emmanuel f/ Celitia – Getaway
07 – Kelis – Trilogy
08 – Aya – Uptown
09 – Break Reform – And I (Yam Who Rework)
10 – Rich Medina Feat. Martin Luther – Too Much
11 – The Roots – Dilltastic Vol Won(derful)
12 – The Roots – Clock With No Hands (Feat. Mercedes Martinez)
13 – Natalie Williams – Psychedelic Love
14 – Choklate – Gettin Is Good
15 – Corinne Bailey Rae – Butterfly

I had to go back in and throw some of my favorites, like Aquanote’s Nowhere, The Sunburt Band’s Far Beyond, Osunlade’s The Closer I Get, and Blue Six’s Pure. However, I could not let this mix go without throwing some Emmanuel in there (much props to Hyps to alerting us to such a great CD). I had to break it down with Kelis’ Trilogy from the album Kelis Was Here. I also pulled in my favorite cut from Aya, Uptown.

I’m still a big fan of Yam Who which is why I had to drop And I, which is silky smooth. No one can deny that Martin Luther has the smooth voice to lay out a track with Rich Medina Too Much. The Roots’ Game Theory is still growing on me, but Clock With No Hands is an instant favorite. Todd Kelley and I shared the same vibe which is why we dropped Psychedelic Love on both of our mixes. The track by Natalie Williams gives me absolute chills. Choklate’s Gettin Is Good and Corinne Bailey Rae’s Butterfly are also two exquisite tracks that finish off the set.

This mix, of course, is available on Flowink, along with So Sincere’s, so check it out there also. Vibe with me.

Everything Intergalactic Soul Spiritually Speaking (then and now)

01 – DJ Spinna – Show Us How You Fly (featuring Christian Urich of Tortured Soul)
02 – Stephanie Cooke – I Never Told You, You Could Stay (NuLife Ricanstruction Vocal Mix)
03 – DJ Spinna feat. Shaun Escoffery – Music In Me (Come Alive)
04 – Blaze – Elevation
05 – Madonna – Inside of Me
06 – The Brand New Heavies – Sex God
07 – Nelly Furtado – Showtime
08 – Aya – You’re Not the Only One
09 – Society of Soul – E.M.B.R.A.C.E.
10 – Donell Jones – I’m Gonna Be
11 – N’Dambi – Black Star
12 – Janita – More Than Fantasy
13 – Quintessence – Friday
14 – Corinne Bailey Rae – Enchantment

DJ Spinna and Christian Ulrich vibe nicely, as does Stephanie Cooke. The cuts with Sean Escoffery and Blaze are two of my favorite house cuts from recent past. Madonna’s Inside of Me has been on my mind for weeks now thanks to Old School Wednesdays. Sex God is one of the many great cuts from Brand New Heavies’ Get Used To It. Nelly Furtado’s Showtime stands out as one of my favorite tracks from Loose, with its great arrangement in 6/8 time. While Aya’s Soul Flower is well known, E.M.B.R.A.C.E by Society of Soul may not be. Think Organized Noise/Sleey Brown. Donell Jones’ I’m Gonna Be is from Journey of a Gemini, while N’Dambi is available on Tunin’ Up And Cosignin’. Janita’s Seasons of Life, Quintessence’s 5AM and Corinne Bailey Rae’s eponymous CD are great CDs and are great considerations for my 5 after 6, coming soon.

This mix, of course, is available on Flowink, along with So Sincere’s, so check it out there also. Vibe with me.

Crashing and Burning (OE) / Rotatin’, Volume 4

ManNMotion is the supplier. I’m the provider.

Overtime.
I’m still doing it, and I’ve been trying to balance it and life in general. Life is back on track, and now go back to travelling, but something had to give, right?

Other Folk’s Blogs

Man, I haven’t read blogs in about a 8 days, literally. I probably missed out on something, because there’s always something going on. I’m walking through Bloglines now being tasked to read 2000+ entries. It’s like trying to read a novel in 7 hours. So hey, if you think I missed something, it’s not ’cause I don’t love you, it’s because I’ve been going through a helluva time at work. Pure madness.

This Blog .
This blog turned 4 years old a couple of weeks ago. Four years of existence, 86 OSWs, and 54 rotations. Man, that’s a lotta work. Where’s the birthday cake?

Homeslices
While I was in The Work Inferno, KB took control of the OSWs and Todd had a birthday which I almost missed. On top of all that, Todd and Lynne did some serious change-ups. While I was laying in the cut trying to keep my head above water, Billy Preston died. Dag. Oh yeah, and then….

The Crash of Iapetus
On Wednesday, I started listening to some music at work, and then all of a sudden, my portable disk gave me an error message: The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable, which basically means: your 40GB of music is gone, and you, my friend, are royally screwed. I’ll have to re-rip disks (40+), and as for music I used to have but can’t find now? Well, I’ve either lost that music completely or call in favors to get the tracks back. I don’t quite know what I’m going to do about the old-school Wednesday at this point. This week will hereby be called The Week Of Reconstruction. Damnit.

The Good Stuff.

There was some great stuff that came out last weekend, however. If you haven’t checked out Flowink, specifically Music Lounge 06.05.06, don’t worry, I have it here for you. Here’s how the flow goes down.
