Rod Temperton, volume 2 – need I say more? I love this. “Star Of A Story” is one of my all-time favorite slow cuts, while the cuts from The Brothers Johnson, Bob James and Herbie Hancock had never been heard before until now. Got requests? Rod Temperton was one of the original members of the group Heatwave. After meeting Quincy Jones, he became a superstar from behind the scenes, and was sought after by a host of people you see above. He has been so prolific that it goes without saying that you can expect Volume 2 to appear soon. The tracks that grabbed my attention are the ones from George, and Rufus, since they are staples of mine, but being able to unearth tracks from James Ingram, Bob James, and Aretha was a nice touch, since I had never heard them before. Big ups to T. Grundy and Theresa. Got requests? Send an email to ejflavors at gmail dot com. For those who’d like to subscribe to these podcasts, enter this link manually into iTunes.
