Good things come in threes…..especially Radio Blogs.
There’s one that’s from Prime, who’s doing his New Jack Flash Back Friday, then my wifey Angelica, who’s doing her Friday Flashback (cause you know we have to represent), and then there’s another hip brotha, Trader Mike who’s moving the crowd with his drum and bass. They’re gonna get me through this long weekend!
Enjoy!

old school, part iii
And now it’s time to reach inside your mind and pull out some old school!
Hey, I may have had one of the weirdest weeks last week, but KB
managed to pull me out of my little funk by granting me creative control of his
Old School
Wednesday wayback machine. This is take three of The Old School – take two
done by no other than Nasty
Bastard, who updates his
radio constantly and provides us with cuts that keep us noddin’.
Some of the old school that I had to bring back? Why, The
Invisible Man’s Band, Kwamé,
and Taana
Gardner, just to name a few.
van hunt in the cut
Check it. A couple of people had reviews and opinions about Van Hunt. Since he’s in our town and had also done quite a bit of session work, I copped the album and loved it. Of course, me doing a review of Van Hunt would be a duplicitous effort, since there had already been reviews of it that I agreed with on all fronts. However, since some of the live performing reviews were a bit different, I was more than curious to see if the live performances were any different from the CD itself. I expected this to be a very good live performance – I wasn’t expecting vocal prowess or choirs or orchestras – just some good old fashion funk, soul and rock.
That’s exactly what I got.
randomusique
I succumed to the iTunes madness and downloaded it onto Hermes, because Cecily, Lynne, and Jason did it, and they caught the madness from countless others:
1. Run by Air
2. Stay Free by Ashford & Simpson
3. When My Anger Starts To Cry by Beady Belle
4. Shake It [Posdnuos Rap] by D’Influence
5. Phuncky Times by D-Influence
6. After the Rain by Davina
7. Move by EFUA
8. No quireo Celos Contigo by Eliades Ochoa & Compay Segundo
9. Everything by Fefe Dobson
10. Canned Heat by Jamiroquai
11. Who Needs Shelter by Jason Mraz
12. Tonight’s The Night by Kleeer
13. A Litttle Spice by Loose Ends
14. Ooh, You Make Me Feel by Loose Ends
15. Public Displays Of Affection by Morcheeba
16. Shallow End by Morcheeba
17. Break Up by S.O.S. Band
18. Open The Way by Seek
19. Here’s To You by Skyy
20. Seconds of Pleasure by Vanhunt
* Duplicity of tracks from the same artist was produced by iTunes because they were on different albums.
** I tried to have iTunes sift through the Z: drive; after 2 hours I decided it would be better to just cancel it and pull down a subset. Guess that’s what we get for having more than 8000 cuts…I think I’d rather stick with MusicMatch or MediaJukebox.

Jason did it (and there will be more, bet!), so you know it’s time to run the marathon with him!
Big Lists of 2003 – Essential CDs of 2003
This was not the easiest thing to go with. It took a while to actually come
up with a top-10 which I thought would be pretty extraordinary and diverse.
Unfortunately, it’s not. Music needs to surprise me in 2004. Also, the fact
in this list got obliterated on an attempt to post it the first time is making
me a not-so-happy person.
Without further ado:

When blogfriends spread their brilliance out so much it’s hard to resist. With
everyone locked out of the gym (including personnel), for a good 30 minutes,
I used my time wisely.
First I noticed that George did
a little
magic, and then Jason followed
suit. Originating from Jonno and
his
mind, they were able to throw a keyword into iTunes and shape and mold
a playlist. Since I don’t have iTunes, I came up with another solution. My
keyword for
the making of my CD was the word ‘sun’. Using this, I came up with the following
playlist:
