01 - Alton McClain & Destiny - It Must Be Love
02 - Leon Ware - What's Your Name?
03 - Patrice Rushen - Haven't You Heard
04 - Dynasty - Check It Out
05 - BB & Q Band - Dreamer
06 - Slave Featuring Steve Arrington - Watching You
07 - Fatback Band - I Found Lovin'
08 - Lillo Thomas - You're A Good Girl
09 - Evelyn Champagne King - Back To Love
10 - Shalamar - There It Is
11 - Donald Byrd & The Blackbyrds - Walking in Rhythm
12 - Johnny Hammond - Fantasy
13 - The Chimes - Love Comes To Mind
14 - Brass Construction - The Message (Inspiration)

I can't remember the last time I heard It Must Be Love, so that song hyped me up. Leon's track is one of my favorite ones off of LateNightTales. While Patrice's cut is a bonafide classic, Dynasty's track Check It Out (produced by Leon Sylvers III) is very underappreciated.

I Found Lovin'
is one of my favorite tracks from Fatback, which segues into Lillo and Evelyn Champagne King, both of which are graced by the touches of Kashif. I was pleasantly surprised by Shalamar's There It Is while listening to music last week, because I had never heard the track before. Walking In Rhythm is quite possibly my favorite track in this mix, because it reminds me so much of living in the 70s and singing that song every single time it came on. It's a perfect segue to Johnny Hammond's Fantasy which is also from LateNightTales.

Fantasy is followed by The Chimes' Love Comes To Mind, one of the warmest songs to come out in 1990. We cap the mix off with The Message (Inspiration).

Shoutouts to Qamar, CoachMVP and Thierno. Vibe with it.

01 - Michael Wycoff - Do You Really Love Me
02 - Sharon Redd - Can You Handle It
03 - Gladys Knight and the Pips - When You're Far Away
04 - Stacy Lattisaw - Jump Into My Life
05 - Michael Jackson - Baby Be Mine
06 - Manhattan Transfer - Spice Of Life

10 - Michael Henderson - In The Nighttime
11 - The Delegation - Oh Honey
12 - The Sylvers - The Roulette Wheel Of Love
13 - Enchantment - Sunshine
14 - Brainstorm - This Must Be Heaven

I'm expanding on Michael Wycoff as we lead off with Do You Really Love Me. I had Sharon Redd on my mind for a little while so Can You Handle It was pulled out. Gladys, Stacy, and Michael lead the way to Manhattan Transfer's Spice Of Life, which I hadn't heard in more than 10 years. Michael Franks, Minnie Riperton, and George Benson led the way to Michael Henderson's In The Nighttime, an honest to goodness classic. Rounding out the set are three tracks which were requested by Morena, Oh Honey, Sunshine, and This Must Be Heaven along with a track for Wayne called The Roulette Wheel Of Love. Those four tracks round the set out nicely.

Bonus points: 1) Who's the producer of When You're Far Away? 2) Who's the producer of Jump Into My Life?

Enjoy.

It's been a busy, hectic week, so I had to do this on the fly....

01 - Aurra - Make Up Your Mind
02 - Jerry Knight - Overnight Sensation
03 - Fatback - Gotta Get My Hands On Some (Money)
04 - Tom Browne - Thighs High
05 - Bill Summers & Summers Heat - Call It What You Want To
06 - Pleasure - Glide
07 - Donald Byrd - Love Has Come Around
08 - Surface - Falling In Love
09 - Michael Wycoff - Looking Up To You
10 - Minnie Riperton - Adventures In Paradise
11 - Deon Estus - Spell
12 - Heatwave - Sho'nuff Must Be Luv
13 - Deniece Williams & Johnny Mathis - Too Much, Too Little, Too Late
14 - Michael Henderson - Take Me I'm Yours

I won't lie...everytime I hear Make Up Your Mind, I start playin' my air guitar. I haven't heard Spell in quite a while so that made my night. I can't say enough about Donald Byrd and that's why Love Has Come Around is in the mix. It's all about the head-nodder cut from Michael Wycoff- I'm sure you know who sampled from this song. If you're wondering about the song Falling In Love, it is indeed by the trio Surface. This was one of their first singles ever released (in 1983), and was a U.K. hit. Special daps to Qamar, KB, and the requestors Ronn and Ms. Alex. Enjoy.
