Starting out with Dynasty, Bell & James, and War, it's always good to keep the bass pumping with Slave and Change. Phyllis Hyman keeps the vibe going with the Loose Ends' written and arranged track, Ain't You Had Enough Love Baby.
Paul Hardcastle keeps it coming with What Does It Take, and after his track, Bob James and Lee Ritenour keep up the vibe with the instrumental Westchester Lady and the quiet storm track Is It You?
Stevie, and Deniece lead into Switch's Call On Me and Anita's Will You Be Mine. We end with Quincy Jones' Setembro with a who's who of wonderful vocalists gracing the track. As usual, there's more in the podcast. For those who'd like to subscribe to these podcasts, use this link. It's after my mini-vacation and the day before Thanskgiving. Hope you're having a great holiday.

Thanks to Ronnie, the leadoff track, Mama Used To Say is used, with more of her suggestions coming in the next few weeks. While Skeskali had Human on her mind a couple of weeks ago, and Theresa had her suggestions, it was Oshunrae who put the icing on the cake asking for Isley Brothers and whole host of others. My standout tracks are Hiroshima's One Wish (which I'm sure Thom Allen agrees with) , Cherrelle's Baby It's You, and of course Stevie's I Love You Too Much (as he proclaims, "maybe three much!")
There's more in the podcast, including my trip to Chicago, and some of my thinking behind these tracks. For those who'd like to subscribe to these podcasts, use this link. This is officially Old School Wednesday #160 according to the count, and of course, it's been a great thing. I wanted to go back into the past and pull one out of the vault that had been done more than a year ago before podcasting, and perhaps put some small touches on it, so that's what I've done this time. Xquizzyt1 (Almost Legal) and I would do some collaborations back in the day, so it was nice to be able to resurface those and this time add a podcast to them as well. This will be the first in a couple of reduxes you will see from time to time as we go back in time.
I thought that opening with Prince would be great, to be followed by some well-known tracks from Taana Gardner and Unlimited Touch, which were club hits in the 80s. Angela Bofill, who is one of my personal favorites from back in the day, was brought back as well. Tom Browne's Fungi Mama (directly off of the dusty, so pardon the background noise) came up again while I was viewing his discography so I wanted to add this to the mix.
Shades of Love was one of the tracks I had never heard before Xquizzyt1 pulled it out of the vault. Camp Lo's Luchini (This Is It) was the track that made me invest in Dynasty back in the day, so I had to pull out Adventures In The Land Of Music. A triple play of great love songs follows with ConFunkShun, Anita, and After 7 giving their just due while Lalah, Billy, and Jean Carne round out the mix. Special thanks to the one and only Todd Grundy for his help throughout this mix.
As usual, there's a little more in the podcast, so take a listen. Also, if you have any requests, please don't hesitate to drop me a line at ejflavors at gmail dot com. Take it light!
When my imagination goes south, it sometimes takes emails and conversations to keep it going. Check it:
Old School Wednesday: The Magic Of You.
(Problems with javascript/browser? Click here.)

06 - Patti Austin - The Heat of Heat
07 - Cameo - Back and Forth
08 - Faze-O - Riding High
09 - The Police - King of Pain

11 - Deniece Williams - Free
12 - Kenny Loggins featuring Shanice - Love Will Follow (Live)
13 - Maysa - Peace of Mind
14 - Michael Franks with Brenda Russell- When I Give My Love To You
It's people like Dale who suggested that I put Raphael Cameron, Faze-O, and Denroy Morgan in the mix, which I was happy to do, particularly Raphael Cameron's cut, which I hadn't heard in more than 15 years. My friends from Chicagoland reminded me about Stephanie Mills, while Nikki caused me to place Michael Franks as the last track.
A discussion from last week which was based off of the simple question "what's your favorite Police track" is the impetus behind King Of Pain. While I was partial to the long version of Love Will Follow, someone inspired me to pick up the version with Shanice in it, and I'm glad I did. Special thanks to SD for the inspiration (and the video).
As usual, there's a little more in the podcast, so if you're so inclined, download and take a listen. Also, if you have any requests, please don't hesitate to drop me a line at ejflavors at gmail dot com. Take it light!
