OSW: Rest In Peace, James Brown
There's a guy named Mr. Grundy who is an absolute aural genius who was shocked, as I'm sure we all were, that James Joseph Brown passed away. In great form. he presents us with:

Pure genius -
I remember a trip me and a group of friends took and. It was about
2 1/s hours ride and we listened to JB the whole way.
Everyone owes a debt!
I didn't expect anything less than a fire list from Soul Brother #1. I remember making my students listen to "The Payback" before we got into the second half of "Homer's The Odyssey" so I could introduce the theme of revenge. I loved it, and they could dig it, too.
If Usher, Neyo, or Chris Brown impress the children, they have to take it all the way back to James Brown to get back to real soul and the definition of an entertainer.
pour out a little liquor...
I finally listened to this at work yesterday before breaking out for the weekend. Well done. My co-worker and I vibed from the infectious JBs track to laughing because he didn't know James Brown covered "Night Train." He just knew it from Back to the Future. Ha! For those not in the know go Google Jimmy Forrest for the original. Or better yet find "Happy Go Lucky Local" by Duke Ellington because nothing is original.
Anyway, this was a good representation of the legend who made it funky. Rest in peace, James.
If only there were a way for me to type a fist in the air...
Aural genius? Hoo boy, how do you respond to an intro like that without blushing. I'm almost speechless after that one (and anyone who knows me well knows it's a cold day in Hell when THAT happens {smile}). Let me just say it was a pure pleasure and an honor to have the opportunity to create an Old School Wednesday mix, especially to honor the 'Godfather of Soul'. Thank you, EJ, and all of the "faithful" who check in here every week, you've all made me feel right at home here.
excellent mix my brother
