If you notice, Rick James and Mary Jane Girls are together, with Lenny White, Roger, and The Fatback Band bringing in the funk. My personal favorite is Dayton's rarely-heard cut, The Sound Of Music, which is a song I never, ever get tired of hearing.
I was thinking about The Family when I decided to include ABC's The Look Of Love (Thanks, J.) Joe Jackson's Steppin' Out is followed by the former Level 42 bandmember/producer Wally Badarou with his instrumental Chief Inspector, one of my other favorites from back in the day. LL Cool J's Around The Way Girl is followed by Zhane's You're Sorry Now (another great cut from them).
We're finishing up with Al Jarreau's Morning, Johnnie Taylor's Your Love Is Rated X, and Patrice's classic Remind Me. Enjoy.
And now it's time for a little spin on things. When I first met J. Brotherlove almost 20 years ago, we both had an affinity for music, both new and old. It's time for him to show you what he's got up his sleeve. Presenting:

15 - Corinne Bailey Rae - Butterfly
I had to go back in and throw some of my favorites, like Aquanote's Nowhere, The Sunburt Band's Far Beyond, Osunlade's The Closer I Get, and Blue Six's Pure. However, I could not let this mix go without throwing some Emmanuel in there (much props to Hyps to alerting us to such a great CD). I had to break it down with Kelis' Trilogy from the album Kelis Was Here. I also pulled in my favorite cut from Aya, Uptown.
I'm still a big fan of Yam Who which is why I had to drop And I, which is silky smooth. No one can deny that Martin Luther has the smooth voice to lay out a track with Rich Medina Too Much. The Roots' Game Theory is still growing on me, but Clock With No Hands is an instant favorite. Todd Kelley and I shared the same vibe which is why we dropped Psychedelic Love on both of our mixes. The track by Natalie Williams gives me absolute chills. Choklate's Gettin Is Good and Corinne Bailey Rae's Butterfly are also two exquisite tracks that finish off the set.
This mix, of course, is available on Flowink, along with So Sincere's, so check it out there also. Vibe with me.
Droppin' it....

It helps to have Chante Moore and Jeff Lorber in the mix too.
Enjoy.
I had to take a longer than usual hiatus but life's like that right about now. Good things coming along in the next couple of weeks, but I don't want to jinx it. Details to come later. Right now, let's switch to the boom box, and with KB putting his hand in it, it's all good. Presenting:

01 - Alyson Williams - My Love Is So Raw
02 - Rebbie Jackson - Plaything

04 - Unlimited Touch - I Hear Music in the Streets
05 - BB&Q Band - Imagination

11 - Everything But the Girl - Driving
12 - Brenda Russell - Piano In The Dark
13 - Isley Brothers - Hello It's Me
14 - Tavares - A Penny For Your Thoughts
Alyson's My Love Is So Raw features rapper Nikki D, seguing into Rebbie's Plaything, one of her finest releases. The anthems Clouds and I Hear Music In The Streets are two well-known tracks, which are then followed by a lesser-known track, Imagination. Alyson's track made me seek out Curtis Hairston, who dropped I Want Your Lovin'. Jermaine was on my mind, prompting me to include I Think It's Love after Curtis' track.
Lisa Stansfield's Change is one of my favorite cuts from her, and the lesser known track, Who's Loving You? was my anthem from Tony Toni Tone! back in the day. I had to follow that up with the smash Everytime You Go Away, a Hall and Oates track which was remade by Paul Young.
I needed to mellow things out a little bit after that scorcher with Everything But The Girl's Driving, Brenda's Piano In The Dark, Isley Brother's hit Hello, It's Me, and finish it off with the wonderul cut A Penny For Your Thoughts.
Enjoy.
