12 - Bobby Caldwell - Open Your Eyes
13 - Christopher Williams - All I See
14 - Aretha Franklin - Day Dreaming
15 - Alyson Williams - Just Call My Name
KC's cut Do You Wanna Go Party is personally my favorite cut from them, and following along with them is Rufus and Chaka's Any Love from Masterjam. Thanks to the folks in Philly, I've been in the Ashford & Simpson mood, which is why It Seems To Hang On was put in the mix. Eyeballin' was one of the cuts that was not on the Johnny Wilder tribute.
Nobody Can Be You is also off of Steve Arrington's Hall Of Fame, while Chuckii Booker's Out Of The Dark is off of Niice and Wiild. I was thinking of Angie Stone, which caused me to pull out Seems You're Much Too Busy from Vertical Hold and then follow it up with a forgotten Bill Withers' cut, Oh Yeah. Afterwards, I thought it would be good to pull out some tracks from Tears For Fears (Advice For The Young At Heart), and Ambrosia (You're The Only Woman).
I thought it would be good to delve into Will Downing with I Go Crazy, a remake of the Paul Davis tune of the same name, and Bobby Caldwell's Open Your Eyes, which is also used by a track from Common's Be.
I finish off the mix with Christopher Williams' All I See, his first release, Aretha Franklin's Day Dreaming, and Alyson Williams' Just Call My Name, arguably my favorite cut from her album, Raw.
Enjoy.
After the birthday weekend has mellowed out into a nice, steady rhythm.....

01 - The Family - The Screams Of Passion [Extended Version]
02 - Jill Jones - G-Spot (Extended)
03 - Loose Ends - Stay a Little While, Child [Remix]
04 - Chaka Khan - Give Me All

07 - Sheila E - Loverboy
08 - Level 42 - Lessons in Love
09 - Curiosity Killed The Cat - Ordinary Day
10 - Swing Out Sister - Twilight World [Superb. Superb. Mix]
11 - Joyce Sims - Come into My Life
12 - Five Star - Let Me Be The One
13 - Patti Austin - In And Out Of Love
14 - Billy Griffin - Hold Me Tighter In The Rain
15 - Lakeside - Say Yes
I'm sure everyone is familiar with Screams of Passion, and following along the same purple vein, I thought it would be good to drop G Spot. Loose Ends' Stay A Little While, Child was one of my favorite tracks from them that is sorely underappreciated. Louil Silas gave it his own spin that, in my opinion, made it just as smooth as Hanging On A String. Give Me All is one of the Chaka Khan tracks that sucessfully blends vocals, scratches, and brass. Journey from no-one other than D-Influence, off the Good 4 We album. I'm sure everyone was hip to the first album from Soul II Soul, which is where Fairplay is from.
Sheila E's Sex Cymbal CD is one of my favorites from her, with Loverboy being one of the funkiest songs, combining her percussion with a guitar solo at the end. Level 42s Lessons In Love, Curiosity Killed The Cat's Ordinary Day, and Swing Out Sister's Twilight World were three tracks that I played endlessly while I was in college, so much so that I had to purchase the cassettes again.
Joyce Sims' Come Into My Life is a well known cut, I'm sure, as is Let Me Be The One. Patti Austin's In And Out Of Love is a stepper's staple. Billy Griffin's Hold Me Tighter In The Rain is one of the songs from him that I've been playing lately, since it's fairly new to me. We finish off with Lakeside's Say Yes, which is one of their finest cuts.
Enjoy.

All of whom have nothing on Honest, who also got a promotion. You know she's the queen of the 16th, right? Right. But I digress.
I'm not one for writing much these days, because my head is in many different places at once. The last couple of days have been really eye-opening. If you were wondering what was going on last week, my mother had a heart attack Tuesday afternoon which put life on hold for a second, but I'm glad to say that everything is back to normal. The whole situation itself was terrifying, to say the least. To put things in perspective, I lost my father to cancer and my stepfather to a heart attack, so Mama Flavors is the linchpin of the family and it's my job to make sure she stays that way. Pounds to those who had my back during the whole ordeal.
These situations, in addition to work restrictions, are forcing me into being more money-conscious, which means rethinking how I'm going to be spending vacation for the rest of the summer and into the fall. Unfortunately, I'm having to postpone my trip to the west coast which is breakin' my heart. Brother needs to get out of town to clear his head though, so I'm going to be cutting corners here and there to go up to NYC in a couple of weeks.
More random thoughts, since I've now got more time, and it's often been said that I speak more about music and less about me.
I have a family emergency to take care of, but let's drop this for the time being.

In addition, Walter Egan and Ambrosia should make you reminisce on the other pop-oriented, well known tracks that were also played in your neighborhood. Hope you enjoy the vibe.
Continuing with the vibe....

14 - Corinne Bailey Rae - Enchantment
DJ Spinna and Christian Ulrich vibe nicely, as does Stephanie Cooke. The cuts with Sean Escoffery and Blaze are two of my favorite house cuts from recent past. Madonna's Inside of Me has been on my mind for weeks now thanks to Old School Wednesdays. Sex God is one of the many great cuts from Brand New Heavies' Get Used To It. Nelly Furtado's Showtime stands out as one of my favorite tracks from Loose, with its great arrangement in 6/8 time. While Aya's Soul Flower is well known, E.M.B.R.A.C.E by Society of Soul may not be. Think Organized Noise/Sleey Brown. Donell Jones' I'm Gonna Be is from Journey of a Gemini, while N'Dambi is available on Tunin' Up And Cosignin'. Janita's Seasons of Life, Quintessence's 5AM and Corinne Bailey Rae's eponymous CD are great CDs and are great considerations for my 5 after 6, coming soon.
This mix, of course, is available on Flowink, along with So Sincere's, so check it out there also. Vibe with me.
I love a collaboration with the Old School Wednesday creator himself, KB. It's the day after Independance Day. so here we go:

-- EDIT 7/5, 5:00PM : Looks like KB has done us another favor and put in place Cavern's Liquid, Liquid in the mix . Now I'm really speechless, especially since I remember a certain rapper who sampled this cut....
