OSW: Remembrance, Volume I

The passing of Lou Rawls had a profound impact on me this week, so I felt I should pay tribute to his legacy, As I started putting together the playlist, I soon realized that I had not paid tribute to Barry White as well. I also realized that there are quite a few singers out there who haven't been duly recognized. It is for this reason that this OSW is entitled:
Old School Wednesday : Remembrance, Volume I.
01 - Lou Rawls - Groovy People
02 - Barry White - It's Ecstasy When You Lay Down Next to Me
03 - Lou Rawls - Let Me Be Good To You
04 - Barry White - For Your Love (I'll Do Most Anything)
05 - Lou Rawls - See You When I Get There
06 - Love Unlimited - Walking In The Rain With The One I Love
07 - Lou Rawls - You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine
08 - Love Unlimited Orchestra - Love's Theme
09 - Lou Rawls - Lady Love
10 - Luther Vandross - My Sensitivity (Gets in the Way)
11 - Barry White - I Only Want to Be with You
12 - Luther Vandross - She Loves Me Back
13 - Barry White - Your Sweetness Is My Weakness
14 - Change - Searching (LP Version)
The Luther tracks here are tracks which weren't on The Luther Tribute, so they were included in this mix to round it out. Barry was also the mastermind of Love Unlimited and Love Unlimited Orchestra, which is why Walking In The Rain With The One I Love and Love's Theme are also in this playlist.
May Lou, Luther, and Barry rest in peace.

Very nice tribute here.
Classy lineup, bruh. Rest in peace to three musical legends.
Great tribute to three great men.
Love Unlimited & Love Unlimited Orchestra!! Wow, I haven't heard them in a good long time. Thanks for this.
EJ, very classy move and a tough task; i.e., which tracks to select.
You're also right about those artists who have yet to be given the proper tribute. For instance, Renée Diggs (Starpoint) passed away in 2005. Also, the highly underrated Carl Anderson, who passed away in 2004... Plus many more.
Thanks for remind us... to never forget.
Peace
I love to hear Barry's ex-wife, Glodean, sing on Walking In The Rain With The One I Love.
wow EJ you deserve a standing ovation for this selection!
My aunt used to LOVE her some Lou Rawls. She passed a while ago, but I know that, had she been alive today, the news of his passing would have devastated her.
Found your site through Nakachi's.
This is a very nice tribute to some legendary talents.
They are unique talents who will be missed.
Talk about some smooth voices... didn't get much better than these gentlemen.
Thank God we still have Isaac Hayes with us. EJ, what do you think of Jaheim and Miles Jaye?

Nicely done, EJ. Glad I got a chance to feel it.
The playlist didn't pull up but I am enjoying the Luther playlist since I missed it the first go around.
ej- Thanks for the fine tribute to the best balladeers!
Fantastic selection EJ! I just picked up some Lou yesterday! Also...good luck in the BoB awards! :)
I loved the list and tribute. I will download some of those tunes.
Thanks!
you picked a fantastic selection of tracks from Lou and Barry. Thank you so much. Lou spent the last several years out here in AZ and we will miss him.
If you're missing the R&B love songs, remember Miles Jaye (Let's Start Love Over, I've Been A Fool For You & Heaven). Visit Miles at www.milesjaye.com and look out for his next CD, coming in 2006.
