01 – Loose Ends – Hangin’ on a String (Contemplating)
02 – Lisa Stansfield – All Around The World
03 – Junior – Too Late
04 – Culture Club – Miss Me Blind
05 – Savanna – Never Let You Go
06 – Beggar & Co. – Mule (Chant #2)
07 – Heatwave – Gangsters of the Groove
08 – Light Of The World – London Town
09 – First Light – Daybreak
10 – Level 42 – Starchild
11 – Soul II Soul – Back To Life
12 – 52nd Street – Never Give Up on You
13 – Mica Paris – You Can Make A Wish
14 – Incognito – Still A Friend Of Mine
15 – Ephraim Lewis – Drowning in Your Eyes

I loved putting this together. Loose Ends delivering one of my favorite tracks, Lisa Stansfield, Junior, and Culture Club are the tracks that start off the mix. I then present another great tune from Savanna, Never Gonna Let You Go, with lead voals from Leroy Osborne, who also provides vovals to Sade ("Nothing Will Come Between Us.") Beggar & Co. follow up with a great track called Mule (Chant #2) which is a track I had never heard.

Heatwave, Light Of The World (Kean Bluey Manuick’s precursor to Incognito) follow suit and then are joined by First Light (with Paul Hadcastle). The familiar and classic Soul II Soul, 52nd Street, Mica, and Incognito tracks follow suit smd we end the mix with Ephraim Lewis’ most popular track in the US, Drowning In Your Eyes.

Special thanks again to Michael W, RIcky M, and Alana G. Got requests? Send an email to ejflavors at gmail dot com. Admittedly, this has been long in coming but due to employment issues and the dearth of music, I had been reluctant to try to generate one. Perserverence and forethught prevailed. Somce new music has been a challenge, I went back into the archives and was able to pull a few gems to help with the flow of new music.

Tortured Soul’s Did You Miss Me? LP has always been in rotation, as well as The Sunburst Band’s spectacular instrumental Far Beyond. Unifunk is great blend of jazz and electronica, which I have always been wary of – until this album The Polkadotted Stripe. Jay ARE, consisting of John Robinson and J. Rawls has just recently come out with their album Jay ARE – 1960′s Jaz Revolution Again. Their track Relax Your Mind had me during the first 10 seconds of the song.

The septet Naturlally 7, a group who provides more than just simply a cappella with their music, is a force to be reckoned with. Their "Vocal Play" provides both sining and instrumentaton. My biggest regret is that I’ve been sleeping on them for so long. Chali 2Na and Elshi do hip hop justice with When Will I See You Again, and Don-E continues his abikity to groove with Stay Awhile.

It stands to reason that Down To THe Bone and Roy Ayers jam for 7 minutes with Good To Me, followed by Jazzin
Park’s New Sun. Ledisi’s Say No is from her new album Turn Me Loose which is essential for fans of Ledisi.

I went back in time for the next two tracks. Seek’s mellow funk Some All Night Daing is from their album from 2004, Jurney Into Day,while King Britt and Vikter Duplaix’s track I’ll Do It For You was released in 2001. I compete the wind-down with Liquid Spirit, who also has a track in Volume 21, continues the goodness with Higher Ground, while Ashley Thomas, also present in Volume 21, ends he belnd with A Take if Two Cities from the album of the same name.

Thanks for waiting so long – I’m hoping to start doing this monthly- time permitting.
As usual, take a listen to the podcast for more info. Special thanks to Foundation Media, Ariel Publicity, Soulbounce, and Macedonia. Take it light.

01 – David Joseph – You Can’t Hide Your Love
02 – Central Line – Walking Into Sunshine
03 – Savanna – I Can’t Turn Away
04 – Incognito – Roots (Back To A Way Of Life)
05 – Loose Ends – Slow Down
06 – Five Star – Let Me Be The One (Philadelphia Remix)
07 – I-Level – Give Me
08 – Slam Slam f. Dee C. Lee – Round And Round
09 – Caron Wheeler – Jazzie B. – Soul II Soul – Free Again
10 – D’Influence – Magic
11 – The Average White Band – Atlantic Avenue
12 – The Brand New Heavies – Back To Love
13 – Ephraim Lewis – Rule for Life
14 – Mica Paris – Should’ve Known Better
15 – Omar – There’s Nothing Like This

This mix was a joy to make. I should call it The Cake Mix. Alana G suggested that I bake a cake that was, for all intents and purposes, the UK mix. I called on Michael W. and Ricky Mc. for ideas (ingredients). Michael W. came out with a multitude of ideas (ingredients) and both he and Ricky Mc. provided enough tracks to even come up with a second mix (another cake), which will be coming soon, so stay tuned.

I got a kick of David Joseph and Central Line, both of which I’ve used before in previous OSWs so it was natural to start out with those two, since they are consistently requested. Savannah’s track totally blows me away as I had never heard it before. It has somewhat of a early mellow house feel which always warms me. Incognito’s Roots features vocals by Pamela Anderson (think D*Note) and is a track from 100 And Rising which is a wonderful album, as are Loose Ends’ Zagora and Five Star’s Luxury of Life. Both th Loose Ends track and the Five Star track were produced by Nick Martinelli. The remixed version of Let Me Be The One has additional solos by Grover Washington, Jr.

I-Level is another track that I rarely get to hear and took a bit of time to track down. Slam Slam featring Dee C.is rarely played, and their CD has some nice gems. Caron and Jazzie B’s excellent duet is followed by Average White Band and The Brand New Heavies. Those wonderful cuts are then mellwed out by three tracks: one from Ephraim Lewis (RIP) and cuts from Mica Paris and Omar, both are which were produced by Omar.
