OSW: Makin’ Moves

A little bit of everything is going on with me right at the moment. It took me a while but I was able to find time to do the podcasts. I’m:

Old School Wednesday: Makin’ Moves.

(Problems with javascript/browser? Click here.)

Podcast/mix available here. [Click to play or right click-save as to download.]

01 – Change – Paradise
02 – Dynasty – Do Me Right
03 – Rick James – Big Time
04 – Michael Jackson – Rock With You
05 – Alicia Myers – You Get the Best from Me (Say, Say, Say)
06 – Krystol – After The Dance Is Through
07 – George Duke – Shine On
08 – Carrie Lucas – Hello Stranger
09 – Hinton Battle – Super Cautious Girl
10 – Jermaine Jackson – Where Are You Now
11 – Cameo – Hanging Downtown
12 – Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens Band – Loving’s What We Should Do
13 – Stevie Wonder – Stranger on the Shore of Love
14 – Rodney Franklin – Song for You

The podcast for Out Of Thin Air, Volume XI is now available. Thanks for being patient. As for this mix, anything with Change, Dynasty, and Rick to speed things up, and then giving you Cameo, Jermaine, and Stevie to slow you down has got to touch you in some way or another. Hope you enjoy these grooves. Take it light.

Thank you EJ for adding one of those rare cuts from In Square Circle!

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

I’m confident that at the end all this you are now going through you will end up unscathed and standing tall.
Now, as for the music… I love the choice of “Paradise” by Change as the starting point for the mix. I had forgotten all about RJ’s “Big Time”, really enjoyed hearing that one again. Anything by George Duke is always OK with me, and Carrie’s version of Hello Stranger is nicely different (of course it helps that the song is one of my favorites no matter who’s singing it {smile}). Oh, and Cameo with “Hanging Downtown” is another group known more for their funk sound that could really break it down and get a mellow groove on when they wanted. BTW… get the idea that I’m a likin’ this week’s mix yet? ;->
When some of the dust settles (or even before), holla at your boy.
